Treehouse Treasures USA launch their Have a Heart Event.
February 14, Valentines Day Weekend, brought a great victory in our effort to perform an Act of Random Kindness for our Wounded Warriors. Our event was held at three locations. The Avenues Mall, The Orange Park Mall and The Shoppes of Eagle Harbor, all in Jacksonville Florida.
AW1 Barber, currently serving in the US Navy dressed as The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. He held a donation bucket that read "Will you give from your heart?" His costume drew a large crowd as children and adult's alike dropped money into his bucket and stood in line to have their picture taken with The Tin Man and Miss Maggie Moo from the Treatery.
Marcus's wife Jennifer and their two daughter's Liberty and Promise maned the table that held military themed cookbooks given in exchange for a generous donation. The little girls handed out stickers, brochures and Wounded Warrior pins to the children and joined in Maggie Moos 21 scoop salute.
Viet Nam veteran Ty Mitcheltree represented Marine Corp 1/1 Alpha Company, 2nd Platoon. Ty paid for the cost of the cookbooks to honor his platoon. He shook the hands of many veterans with a genuine smile and a hearty "Welcome home brother!" and "Semper Fi."
Among the banners, books and ice cream for all could be heard conversation about how deserving the Wounded Warrior's are of our full support and other's wanted to know "Who are the Wounded Warrior's?"
At the end of the day the employee's of Maggie Moo's emptied their tip jar into the Tin Mans bucket. Thank you girls! You are true patriots!
